Genuine Parts Company is a service organization engaged in the distribution of automotive replacement parts, industrial replacement parts, office products and electrical/electronic materials. During the year ended December 31, 2008, business was conducted throughout the United States, in Canada and in Mexico from approximately 2,000 locations. The Company's Automotive Parts Group, the division of the Company, distributes automotive replacement parts and accessory items. Its Industrial Parts Group distributes industrial replacement parts and related supplies throughout the United States and Canada. Its Office Products Group, operated through S. P. Richards Company (S. P. Richards), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. S. P. Richards is engaged in the wholesale distribution of a line of office and other business related products that are used in the daily operation of businesses, schools, offices and institutions.
